Marked: crossed L's in blue enamel, incised 'C' (sic)
These plates are part of a service made for M. de Semonville who was appointed French Ambassador to Turin in 1791 and then Constantinople in 1792. A reference in the register of Sevres for 1791 reads 'M de Semonville, Ambassador Service' with black ground, chinoiseries in coloured golds and enamelled flowers, 45 francs the plate.
